Mid-America Therapy Services contracts with a variety of School Districts to provide full-time, part-time, and PRN staff with qualified pediatric Occupational, Speech, and Physical Therapists.  We also provide qualified services to the First Steps and Headstart programs.

All Therapists attend ongoing continuing education and are professional and dependable.

Marla Shyken, OTR/L

Marla Shyken is a registered and licensed Occupational Therapist and the Owner of Mid-America Therapy. She has over 20-years' experience in Providing Occupational Therapy services for school and clinical settings. Marla has worked in school settings that specialize in children with physical disabilities and sensory integration disorders. Marla has specialized training in Therapeutic Listening, Visual Perceptual Training, and Feeding Skills.

Some certifications include Therapeutic Listening, Beckman Oral Motor Skills, and Handwriting without Tears.

Nicole Weckherlin, OTR/L

Nicole Weckherlin is a registered and licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR/L).  She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Saint Louis University in Occupational Therapy.  Nicole has worked as an OTR in the school setting, including early childhood, elementary and middle school levels throughout the St. Louis area for the past nine years.  Nicole has also taught a pediatric course and lab for St. Charles Community College Occupational Therapy Assistant Program.  In addition, she has adult rehabilitation experience in many areas, including a variety of neurological and orthopedic conditions.  She is current in American Red Cross CPR in Infant, Child and Adult.

Tracy Reed, SLP

Tracy Reed is a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) and Yoga Instructor. She holds a Master of Arts degree from St. Louis University in Speech-Language Pathology. Tracy has worked as an SLP in early childhood settings, elementary schools, and private therapy throughout the St. Louis and St. Charles areas for the past 11 years. She has taught an undergraduate and graduate level Language Development course through Webster University. Certifications include Missouri Teacher Certification in Speech and Language Specialist, Missouri State Board of Registration for the Healing Arts, and American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) license. Tracy has taught various aerobics, Pilates, and yoga classes for the past seven years at the Carondelet YMCA of St. Louis. She has completed Levels 1, 2, 3, YogaStrength, and YogaKids trainings through YogaFit, which is a Yoga Alliance approved program. Tracy holds YMCA certifications in Principles of Health and Fitness, Group Exercise Instructor, YMCA Resistance Training in Aerobics, and YMCA Core Muscle Training. She is current in American Red Cross CPR/AED training.

Erin Dwyer, MS, CCC-SLP

Erin Dwyer graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a B.A. in Psychology and, while in this program, discovered Speech-Language Pathology. She received an M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from Fontbonne University, currently is licensed to practice through ASHA and the Missouri Board of Healing Arts, and has been working as a speech therapist in St. Louis County within the pediatric population for over 6 years. Her pediatric background includes First Steps, screenings/evaluations, early childhood settings, private pay, therapy in schools, multiples, Autism, tongue thrust, sign-language, Apraxia, sensory integration, and oral-motor work. Erin is certified to teach sign-language classes for babies and toddlers and has three children, including a set of identical twins, who were all taught to sign to increase their communication skills and reduce frustration.

Jennifer Lane, MS, CCC-SLP

Jennifer Lane is a registered and licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (CCC-SLP). She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from St. Louis University and a Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Fontbonne University. Jennifer has been working with the pediatric population in St. Louis County and St. Charles County for over 6 years, specifically with children who have special needs and their families. She has worked as a First Steps Provider, in the early childhood setting, in the elementary school setting, as a private provider, and in a private pediatric clinic. Jennifer’s areas of expertise are in articulation disorders, phonological awareness, phonological rule disorders, language disorders, and improving oral motor functioning (e.g. tongue thrust). Jennifer is a member of the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association (ASHA), the Missouri Speech, Language, and Hearing Association (MSHA), has Missouri Teacher’s Certification as a Speech and Language Specialist, and has a Missouri State License to practice as a speech-language pathologist in the state of Missouri.
